Why Only Christians Eat Both Beef and Pork
Why Do Religions Forbid Certain Foods?
Ancient taboos set up for hygiene and to protect survival resources
Judaism and Islam forbid pork; Hinduism forbids beef. So why can Christians eat everything? In Old Testament times pork was risky for hygiene reasons. In Hinduism, cows were a resource that plowed fields and gave milk. That's why they were forbidden. But times have changed. Hygiene has improved and machines now do the farming, so the original reasons for those bans no longer apply.
