The Wisest Greeting: "Something Good Is Coming."
Your future splits into exactly four kinds
Something bad that brings a good result. Something good that brings a bad result. Something purely bad. Something purely good. There's the old Chinese parable of the farmer whose lost horse turned out to be a blessing, and there's reaping what you sow.
The problem is that you can't tell right now which of the four the thing in front of you is. Good and bad are mixed together ahead of you, and the lid hasn't been lifted.
The future is unknowable by nature. No one can tell whether stocks will rise or fall tomorrow. A human life is even harder to predict. So anyone who says they know the future is either a liar or a fool. An honest person admits only one thing: "I don't know."
But wisdom is standing on the side of the farmer's parable.
Here are two greetings
One person says, "This bad thing is just a step toward something good. So there are definitely good things ahead of us." They believe it and say it to others too.
Another person says, "The country is rotten and politicians are busy lining their pockets."
"There's no hope."
The interesting thing is that both are equally ignorant of the future. And both live hard with their own expectations, and one day both take their last breath the same way.
In the end, one was happy while they lived, and the other was miserable every day.
And interestingly, over thousands of years, human civilization has kept advancing and life has gotten easier.
The wise greeting is a quantum greeting
Schrödinger's cat. The cat in the box is both dead and alive. Until the lid is opened, the two states overlap. Our future is exactly that box.
If you believe it's good, there's a chance it opens that way. And even if something bad comes out, if you believe that too is the farmer's horse, the box ends up opening on the good side. For a person who turns bad cards into good steps, no matter how many times the box is opened, only good comes out in the end.
Mental gymnastics is forced rationalization, but we're speaking of a strong and hopeful future.
When someone is in despair, the most honest and wisest thing to say is this:
"Don't worry. Something good is going to happen to you."
God disguises Himself as coincidence and turns results around.
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
