Power that stripped people of soul and dignity
"A human being? Just a lump of protein."
That idea may have been the worst trend in human history.
A mindset with the force of a nuclear bomb, wiping out tens of millions of lives.

1. Mao Zedong (atheist materialism)
45 to 70 million deaths (estimates vary)
The Great Leap Forward starved vast numbers of people to death.
This is what happens when people are seen only as "means of production."

2. Genghis Khan (pragmatic conquest)
Estimates around 40 million deaths
An age with no moral restraint, where the sword was justice.

3. European imperialism (social Darwinism in part)
Estimates of 35 to 50 million deaths
"The weak are naturally weeded out." Colonial atrocities were sometimes justified this way.

4. Joseph Stalin (atheist materialism)
20 to 40 million deaths (estimates vary)
"Class enemies aren't human, just targets for removal."

5. Adolf Hitler (eugenics and distorted evolutionary ideas)
17 to 21 million deaths
The worst "fan fiction" of evolution ever applied to society.

6. Imperial Japan (racial supremacy)
10 to 14 million deaths
"Only we are fully human, and the rest..." The hell it created in China and Southeast Asia.

2) The destructive force of materialism plus distorted evolutionary thinking

Modern ideologies, far deadlier than religious wars, that turned people into parts
For reference, the medieval witch hunts and the Crusades don't even come close to these numbers.
The combination of atheist materialism and distorted evolutionary ideas proved overwhelmingly lethal.
Materialism pulled the soul out of human beings,
and the distortion of evolution pulled out their dignity.

The elderly, the disabled and disabled children become broken parts to be discarded.
The king or the party becomes god. You may kill as you please.
Love your neighbor? A symbol of weakness.

Conclusion: the dignity of being created vs. the jungle of survival of the fittest

Human dignity as the strongest brake on killing, and what we teach
The start of a cruel jungle where only the strong survive.
Whether or not creation is scientifically right,
the value "You are a masterpiece made in the image of God"
has been humanity's strongest brake on killing.

But teach people "You're just a descendant of rats and monkeys"?
And the door opens to murder, fraud and robbery.

For the sake of our own survival,
there's little reason to pour more of a nation's budget into evolutionary research than into moral education.
